JSI's Inaugural Symposium

"JOSEPH: Beacon of Hope for the Pilgrim Church"

The inaugural Josephology Society International (JSI) Symposium takes place in the context of the Great Jubilee of 2025, whose theme is “Pilgrims of Hope.” Aligning with the Jubilee’s focus, the JSI’s online 2025 symposium’s theme is: “JOSEPH: Beacon of Hope for the Pilgrim Church.” This theme can accommodate a wide variety of topics and approaches. Examples of possible topics, by no way exhaustive, include:

  • “Saint Joseph: Exemplar of the Theological Virtue of Hope”

  • “Saint Joseph and Pope Benedict XVI’s encyclical Spe salvi / Saved in Hope

  • “Saint Joseph and Pope Francis’s Bull of Indiction for the 2025 Jubilee, Spes Non Confundit (Hope Does Not Disappoint)"

  • "Joseph: The Silent Knight of that Hope-Filled Night"

  • "Hope-filled Consecration to Saint Joseph"

  • "Joseph: Hope of Husbands, Fathers, Workers"

  • "Joseph, Pilgrim of Hope, Beacon of Hope"

  • "Learning Love from Joseph's Hope-filled Heart"

  • "Joseph: A Bridge of Hope between East and West"

  • “Joseph: Hope of the Church,” etc.

Presentations are not to exceed 30 minutes, to allow for questions and discussion afterwards. Presenters may subsequently submit lengthier and more-developed versions of papers for consideration for publication in JSI’s scholarly journal, Josephology Studies. Article submissions are expected to conform to the conventions of an academic journal style sheet as found here. Deadlines for Speakers and Papers Abstracts are February 1, 2025 and March 19, 2025, respectively.
